About

The Challenge

Matt is looking for a shower support solution to enable him to use both of his hands freely while standing. Matt would like to be able to wash his hair, which requires the use of both of his hands. Matt would like a support to fit within his small shower that he could move and secure independently without damaging the space.

This project reflects work we were involved in previously; however, the design no longer aligns with our current focus due to the nature of the solution or the challenge. We are now more mindful of the safety and suitability of DIY design solutions. We share this in the spirit of acknowledging the valuable contributions of our volunteers and supporting open collaboration.

The Concept

Team Matt developed an adjustable, rustproof metal frame which attaches to his shower space with rubber feet. It has a waterproof cushion for Matt to lean on and a belt to provide support when he bends forward. It is a portable, modular, and adjustable solution for Matt to use while showering.
