Our Story

We’re passionate about making a difference.

Who we are

We’re TOM Melbourne, an Australian not-for-profit that’s part of a global community of over 70 TOM groups dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities.

While we share the same mission as TOM communities worldwide, we focus on Australia’s unique needs, ensuring our solutions are tailored to our local context.

Since launching in 2016, we’ve used four key programs to tackle challenges and drive real change:

  • Makeathon Events
  • TOM @ University
  • Product Development
  • TOM @ Schools (suspended)

At TOM Melbourne, we’re all about collaboration, creativity, and making things happen. We’re a community of makers, mentors, and partners, working toward one goal: making the world a better place for everyone.

Our Vision

To create a world where co-design and innovation empower everyone to thrive.

Our Impact

We’re incredibly proud of the strides we’ve made so far.

We’ve directly improved the lives of over 150 people with disabilities, built a vibrant network of more than 450 passionate Makers. We’ve educated over 3,000 students about disability and STEM, helping to create a more inclusive future. We have forged valuable partnerships with leading organisations such as Swinburne University of Technology, RMIT, Monash University, Freedom Solutions and other disability service providers.
